My Initial Thoughts

If you feel that music is waiting to burst out of you, then you need an excellent piece of equipment to release it.

You could always use a computer, like so many other music producers all over the world.

However, why not invest in the newest technology that allows you to have everything you might need just a fingertip away?

Ableton Push 2 is the ultimate gadget for any music enthusiast, and I am here to tell you all about it.

Let's start.

Feel, Specifications, Dimensions, and Integrations

Ableton made sure that Push 2 allows you to bring it everywhere with you, wherever you might go.

That is why this is a perfect gadget to carry around in your rucksack as well.

It is only 378mm wide, and it weighs only 6 pounds, so you can rest assured that you will not strain your back or your hands.

As far as the shell goes, it feels as if it would weigh a lot, but it doesn’t.

The plate is lightweight and aluminum made, and it feels sturdy enough to last you a long time.

The pads are exceptionally made.

They used soft silicone for them, so they feel nice under your fingertips whenever you use it.

In addition to that, you do not have to push hard to make them work - a light touch and the pads respond immediately.

The situation is similar when it comes to the encoders.

They are quality made and endless, so you can easily twist and turn until you find your perfect sound.

Multiple control buttons on the side also do not need much velocity to work.

They even light up when you use them.

The colors depend on what you are currently doing with this device - the light could be white or multicolored.

Ableton Push 2 also comes with an RGB display.

It is a bright, high-resolution screen that allows you to use it anywhere, no matter if you are under natural or artificial lighting.

You also get a touch strip that measures at about 17 cm, which you can use for scrolling.

Advanced Features and Performance

As far as the actual design goes, music fans will love this device.

It has a sleek design that looks fantastic in any situation - whether you are in the studio or just playing around in your living room.

The display changes colors, and it is always adapting to your movements.

You can read all the necessary information on it and keep track of your progress.

However, it will not distract you and make you lose your “flow.”

If you are like me, you will enjoy the push pads. They are as soft as they can get, yet high-quality and durable.

It feels as if you are pushing nothing at all - the clicking is extremely subtle, but effective.

Push 2 may look like its predecessor, but it is a bit thinner and easier to carry around.

You can pretty much place it anywhere because it does not take up a lot of space.

In addition to that, it is lightweight enough to bring it with you to the studio every day.

It would not be a top-notch Ableton product if it did not come with many features.

The same goes for Push 2.

The improvements and upgrades are like a dream come true for any music addict.

Take, for example, Simpler.

This time, they integrated it entirely with the device, and it basically allows you to change anything you want in a blink of an eye.

The browser is a neat addition.

You can rummage through your sample library and projects.

The Push 2 controller allows you to launch anything from the library, and you also use it for Simpler too.

The device is also adjustable.

If you feel like everything is too bright, or that the pads are not sensitive enough, you do not have to worry.

You can easily change it whenever you want, without compromising your work.

Pros & Cons of Push 2

Benefits

Has a Convert button, Slice it, add onto it; there are almost no limits

If you are into aesthetics, then you will love all the changing hues

It feels sturdier than its predecessor, Push 1

Drawbacks

It comes with just a one year warranty, and there are limits to what that includes

You cannot use it with lower-ranking Windows software

It is a pricey investment, but worth it

My Final Thoughts

Making music is easier now that we have all these products and gadgets to choose from.

You can get one device that plays almost all instruments you could find, and no one would ever suspect differently.

Ableton Push 2 is a fantastic example of such a device.

Not only does it have an excellent design, but it also feels professional and quality made.

The buttons are nice and soft to touch, so you do not have to jam your fingers in order for them to work.

Not to mention that multiple features exceed the Push 1 by far.

Just the Convert Button makes me think of this product as a lifelong companion.

The warranty is a bit disappointing, but you probably will not need it anyway.

It would depend on how much you use it, although, at such a price tag, you should tread lightly around it.

All in all, Push 2 is a beautiful addition to any music producer's or enthusiast's studio.
